About Kiwi Homestay

Kiwi Homestay Consultants Ltd was formed by Sue and Kevin Blincoe in 1996. They have been involved with the hosting and placing of international students since the late 1980's.

With a wealth of knowledge gained in the industry over the years, the Company is able to offer a quality professional service, not only to students but also to homestay families and educational institutions.

As the Managing Director of Kiwi Homestay Consultants, Sue was invited to be a member of the first committee which was responsible for the development and implementation of the Ministry of Education's Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care for International Students ("the Code") in 2000. In 2003, she was also a member of the Committee for review of the guidelines to the Code.

Kiwi Homestay Consultants place students in Universities, Polytechnics, Colleges/High Schools and Language Schools. Ages range from as young as 13 years through to mature students of 50+ years.

We will endeavour to match the student's requirements and interests to that of the homestay family and will forward a family profile to the institution at which the student will study.

All prospective host families are visited by a member of our staff to be sure that the accommodation offered is of a high standard and suitable for the student's needs. All persons aged 18 and over living in the house are required to agree to a Police Vetting Check being carried out. When a host family has been approved by us, and a student allocated to them, we will provide details of the student to the host family.

Students will receive information and guidelines which will advise them what they can expect (and what is expected of them) when living in a homestay. Host families will also receive information and guidelines on hosting an international student.

We will arrange collection of students from Auckland International Airport and transfer to the homestay. Once we have confirmation that the student has arrived safely, we will pay board payments by direct credit to the host family's bank account.

All families and students will be contacted by telephone or visited at home or educational institution to ensure that all is well.
